Troy group gives more than $160K in awards

TROY — The Distribution Committee of The Troy Foundation has awarded 21 organizations a total of $163,115.52 in grants. Grants were awarded to:

• City of Troy — $7,500 for the 2010 Treasure Island River Adventure Series

• Troy Police Department — $1,000 for traffic vests for Troy City Schools

• Kyle Elementary School PTO — $2,250 for the school’s 2010 Muse Machine Program

• First United Methodist Church’s First Kids Preschool — $1,518.70 for programming

• Richard’s Chapel United Methodist Church — $2,000 for the 2010 Martin Luther King Day Celebration

• Rehabilitation Center for Neurological Development & Nicholas School — $5,995 for a neurofeedback computer system

• National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation — $3,000 for Camp Invention to be held at St. Patrick School

• Troy Junior Baseball — $28,135 to replace fencing at the Troy Jr. Baseball Complex

• American Red Cross — $7,563 for youth education programs

• Hook Elementary School — $2,500 for books

• Miami County Dental Clinic — $5,878 to purchase a cavitron and an intra-oral camera

• Troy Skating Club — $14,000 for the Theater on Ice Competition

• FISH of Troy — $2,000 for emergency crisis funding

• Boy Scouts of America — $3,412 for two computers and a Blackberry

• The Future Begins Today — $25,000 for operating expenses

• Troy-Miami County Public Library — $7,293.50 for large print books and audiocassettes

• Edison Community College — $400 for scholarships to the Leadership Academy

• Troy-Hayner Cultural Center — $10,000 for the 2010 Summer Music Series

• Troy Junior High Archery Club — $7,725.32 for archery equipment

• Troy City Schools — $945 for three otoscopes for the school nurses

• United Way of Troy, Ohio — $25,000 for the 2009 Annual Campaign

The Committee also allocated $50,000 to a Community Needs Plus Fund to provide matching funds for contributions to all Troy nonprofit organizations.

The Troy Foundation was established in 1924 by Augustus Stouder to better life for those in Troy and the surrounding community. In the last year, the Foundation has awarded more than $3.9 million dollars in grants.
